About Dottie
Developing your violin technique requires a steady hand and a clear ear. You will find that my 13 years of experience spent performing on stages and in studios informs my current full-time teaching practice.
I guide students through grade exam prep for ABRSM and Trinity boards while focusing on essential scales and arpeggios. Refining double stops and intonation becomes much easier when you understand the mechanics of orchestral playing. Rhythm and timing are vital components of music theory that we integrate into your routine. It feels great to hear real improvement from steady, practical practice.

Customising your violin path is how we achieve real results. You will benefit from my degree from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire as we navigate the nuances of your playing.
I ensure that your bow hold is corrected and your posture is grounded throughout the session. Providing free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson helps you stay consistent between our meetings. We focus on the physical sensations of playing to keep sessions practical and musical.
Your technique will sharpen as we work through specific challenges during our time together. We prioritise your long-term growth as a violinist by securing a strong technical foundation today. You will notice clear changes in your sound as we work towards your performance goals.
