About Sophia

I am a top-performing AP Calculus AB student, an incoming freshman at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, and a 99th percentile SAT scorer. Along with my success in AP Calculus, I have also excelled in AP Physics 1 and 2, giving me a strong foundation in problem-solving, critical thinking, and standardized test strategies. With recent, firsthand experience in high-level math and science courses and standardized testing, I understand the challenges students face and know how to break down difficult concepts clearly and effectively. My goal is to help students build confidence, master calculus, and approach their coursework and exams with success-driven strategies.

About the lesson

As former AP Calculus AB and AP Physics 1 & 2 student and an incoming University of Michigan–Ann Arbor student, I bring strong subject mastery and firsthand experience to my tutoring sessions. My approach focuses on building a deep understanding of core calculus concepts while helping students develop problem-solving strategies they can rely on during tests and assignments.

My Calculus lessons are designed to build understanding and confidence by focusing on the specific areas where students need support. I start by reviewing challenging concepts and breaking them down into manageable steps. From there, I guide students through their calculus assignments, ensuring they grasp the material and can apply it independently.

Beyond strong content knowledge, I’m committed to making calculus less intimidating and more manageable for my students. As someone who recently succeeded in AP Calculus AB and is continuing in a rigorous academic environment, I understand the challenges students face and how to help them overcome them with confidence.
