About Malika
Hi! My name is Malika. I'm a dedicated English tutor and high school student who achieved a 1350 SAT score on my first try—including a 710 on the Reading & Writing section. Being a student myself, I'm all too familiar with academic pressure, and I provide a safe and friendly environment for students of all ages to learn and grow.
I have direct experience prepping IGCSE students for their oral exams, as well as working at a nursery teaching five-year-olds how to read.
I'm naturally friendly and open, and because I'm a student too, I make it easy for my students to feel comfortable, ask questions, and be themselves during our lessons!

From teaching first-graders how to read simple three-letter words to helping my classmates before exams, I've always enjoyed teaching and tutoring. I don't believe in dry textbooks and cramming till your eyes blur. Learning English can be interactive and engaging. I use worksheets, examples, and step-by-step explanations to make sure everything sticks.
While I believe a lesson plan should be curated specifically for each student's abilities and needs, a standard 60-minute session with me goes as follows:
Lesson Introduction (5-10 minutes): What the lesson is, when it's used in real life, why it's important.
Skill Assessment (5-10 minutes): Student solves a short worksheet on their own, allowing me to assess their skills and weak points.
Step-by-step explanation (15-20 minutes): Breakdown of the lesson, its rules, etc.
Guided Practice (20 minutes): Working through exercises together, where the student takes the lead and applies what they just learned with my support.
Wrap-up (5 minutes): Summary of key takeaways and setting clear goals for next time.
My lessons are designed for students, of any age, looking to improve their reading and grammar skills.
