About Joel
Hi, my name is Joel. I'm a 22-year-old, 4th-year medical student who has taken a year out from his studies to pursue other career options. Despite having limited formal tutoring experience, I have taught friends in the past who have gone on to get good results in many different subjects. I myself got 8A*'s, 2A's and 2B's at GCSE level (A* include all sciences and maths) and 2A*A at A-level (A*'s in Biology and Chemistry). I'm enthusiastic, kind, encouraging and really enjoy teaching!! It means a lot to me that the students I teach will get the grades they deserve at the end of it all, this is the only thing that matters at the end of the day. I hope you will consider me as a potential tutor and I will do everything I can to ensure you achieve your goals.

I think that there are many successful ways to learn science. I would highly recommend a method which is based on past papers. I think this is the best way for a number of reasons:-
1. These are real questions which have been given in previous years, this means that students get a good idea about what is expected from them to get a certain grade.
2. It's easy to see what parts of the syllabus a student knows well and what parts they don't.
3. Students get into the habit of answering questions in the best possible format.
4. Doing mock tests often, in exam conditions means students are less likely to panic and flunk an exam when it comes to the real thing.
5. The science syllabus is only so big. I can guarantee that some questions in the mock paper will appear in the students GCSE exam paper. Doing past papers and having me go through the answers with them will give them a competitive edge!
I would also be comfortable teaching in different ways, for example.
-Working through a syllabus from start to finish.
-Working on specific parts of the syllabus.
-Question and answer sessions.
-Workbooks
During the first session, we can discuss what grades you want to get and work out the best way you can achieve that.
