About Roxy
I am currently a medical student, studying in Prague. You may be wondering “why Prague?”. Well, why not? I’m a sucker for historic buildings and it’s a wonderful country to live in. Yes, learning the language is quite a challenge but that’s exactly why I’m doing it. Plus, during my clinical years I will be assisting in the hospitals. This alone drives me to step out of my comfort zone and put others needs above my own.
Being a tutor has come quite natural to me, as I’ve always loved learning new things and showing others how to have the same enthusiasm. I find the sciences purely magical, even though it doesn’t seem it at times.
I understand how it feels to look around a classroom of nodding heads at what’s being taught and feeling left behind from my lack of knowledge. It’s quite disheartening. However, taking time to sit and work one-on-one with someone whose main focus is YOUR understanding, it feels like someone steadying you on a bicycle as you learn to ride without training wheels. And, eventually, you’re doing it all on your own.
I learned from methods that helped me get to where I am today and I hope I can do the same for you.

Past questions!! The perfect way to get a sneak peek of what will be in your summer exams. My methods haven’t failed me yet, neither in studying for my own exams or tutoring others for theirs. This is my main source of learning/teaching. You’d be surprised how often they turn up in tests written by schools (of course, with small adjustments to the questions).
I also like to see what work students have done in class and go through questions they don’t understand (even homework but that’s a secret between you and me).
By using exam board checklists, I can ensure that topics aren’t being overlooked. Alongside this, I use exam board mark schemes to guide students into mastering correct wording for the questions that separate the B students and A students.
