About Masha
I inspire confidence in students by fostering a supportive, structured, and encouraging environment where they feel comfortable tackling challenging topics. I focus on setting clear learning goals and providing consistent feedback, so students can track their progress, recognize their strengths, and gain a genuine sense of accomplishment.
Professionalism is a top priority, reflected in my punctuality, preparation, and open communication with both students and parents. Although I try to maintain a professional environment, I make my sessions fun but educational, to keep the student actively engaged throughout the lesson, and excited to come back for another session. I develop tailored lesson plans that address each student’s unique needs and learning style, while staying organized and adaptable to ensure we meet our objectives efficiently. I also make myself available for follow-up questions and additional support outside of sessions.
By combining a patient, understanding, yet fun approach with a deep commitment to quality teaching, I reassure students and families that they’re receiving excellent guidance tailored to their academic journey.

My approach to tutoring in psychology, chemistry, and biology, is tailored to help students not only understand concepts but also to apply and engage with the material actively.
Teaching Method and Techniques:
My teaching method combines concept-based and application-focused learning to ensure students grasp the "why" and "how" behind each topic. Here’s how I achieve that:
Active Learning: I incorporate active recall and spaced repetition techniques, as they’re highly effective for science subjects. I use flashcards, practice problems, and short explanations where students recall information actively to boost retention.
Relatable Examples: I tie abstract theories and concepts to real-life examples. For psychology, I connect theories to well-known studies or everyday behavior. For chemistry and biology, I bring in examples from medicine, environmental science, or technology to show how the knowledge translates to the world around us.
Problem-Solving Sessions: In chemistry and biology, problem-solving is essential. We’ll work through various problem sets, breaking down complex questions into manageable parts to help students recognize patterns and develop strategies for tackling similar questions.
Critical Thinking and Discussion: In psychology, I encourage critical thinking by discussing theories, comparing perspectives, and questioning methodologies. This also helps students prepare for essay-style assessments.
Customized Feedback and Adaptation: I assess each student's strengths and weaknesses through their answers, then adapt my approach to their learning style, providing specific feedback.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson has three main parts:
Introduction (5-10 minutes):
Review previous material briefly or answer any questions.
Outline the key objectives for today’s lesson, connecting new content to what they’ve already learned.
Core Lesson (30-40 minutes):
Concept Explanation: Introduce new concepts in a step-by-step manner.
Example Problems and Applications: I use case studies or example problems related to the material. For example, in chemistry, I might discuss real-life applications of chemical reactions, while in psychology, I might reference studies or mental health applications.
Interactive Questions and Checks: Frequent questions to gauge understanding and encourage active engagement.
Practice and Review (10-15 minutes):
Walk through a few practice problems or discussion points.
Answer questions and provide tips on how to study or structure answers for upcoming assessments.
Wrap-up (5 minutes):
Recap key points.
Assign follow-up work, like a quick reading or practice question, to reinforce the lesson content.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Interdisciplinary Approach: My knowledge across psychology, biology, and chemistry allows me to make connections between subjects. For example, I can show how biochemical processes relate to psychological states, which is valuable for students studying interdisciplinary fields or pre-med courses.
Focus on Deep Understanding and Skills Development: I encourage students to go beyond rote memorization, instead focusing on comprehension, analytical thinking, and application skills. This approach is especially valuable for exams and for students aspiring to pursue further education or careers in STEM.
Patient, Adaptive Instruction: I recognize that every student learns at their own pace and may need different approaches. I adjust my teaching style and the complexity of the material to suit each student, which builds confidence and fosters a positive learning environment.
Who the Lessons Are For:
High School Students: Students preparing for exams such as AP, IB, or A-levels who need a solid grasp of foundational concepts and critical thinking.
College and University Students: Particularly for psychology and biology, where students may need guidance in research methods, essay writing, and specific concepts relevant to their degree.
Students Preparing for Entrance Exams: Those studying for entrance exams that test on psychology, biology, and chemistry concepts, for example the MCAT.
My goal is to create a learning environment that’s engaging, insightful, and supportive so that students develop both confidence and competence in their chosen subjects.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Masha is an excellent professor! She has helped me through General Chemistry 1 and 2 and Psychology 101, all of which I received an A in. She explains complicated concepts using very easy-to-understand methods. She also provides practice questions that she works through with her students. Overall I think Masha is an excellent and engaging professor who is extremely smart and helpful.
