About Maria-Jose
I'm currently studying dentistry in Newcastle and have been tutoring GCSE students online for the past year alongside that. I've also been involved in peer mentor schemes for younger years while at school. I really aim to make tutoring sessions a positive environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and work through things they're not sure about.

I teach GCSE level Biology and Chemistry, typically offering hour-long sessions weekly, or more often depending on what the student requires. I teach via online call, using the whiteboard feature to enhance learning and providing screenshots of content covered on a progress tracker document. I usually take the approach of mastering understanding of basics to benefit learning of harder concepts as much as possible. I provide advice on revision techniques and focus on building a relationship in a style of collaboration rather than just teacher-student to leave a lasting impact on students and encourage them to then go on to carry out self-led work or revision outside of what they've been set by school.
