I'm Mwenda, a First-Class Master's graduate in Genetics and a current Bioinformatician, with a passion for making complex subjects clear and engaging. My background in cutting-edge biological research and data analysis means I work with science and problem-solving every day - and I love bringing that real-world perspective into tutoring. I've spent years helping students of all abilities in Biology, Computer Science, and Maths, from Year 6 right through to GCSE and A-Level. I'm a First-Class Master's graduate in Genetics with a passion for helping students not just achieve their academic goals, but also develop a genuine interest in the subjects they study. I tutor Biology, Computer Science, and Maths at GCSE and A-Level, tailoring each session to suit the student's current ability, learning style, and long-term objectives. My teaching approach focuses on understanding over memorisation. I believe that when students grasp the "why" behind concepts, they can apply their knowledge flexibly and confidently, even in unfamiliar exam questions. Lessons typically involve a mix of clear explanations, worked examples, and interactive problem-solving. I also place a strong emphasis on exam practice, integrating real past-paper questions into sessions to strengthen both subject knowledge and exam technique. A typical lesson lasts one hour, though longer sessions can be arranged if needed. Before starting a topic, I like to assess the student's current understanding so we can target any gaps effectively. We then work through the material in a logical and structured way, always linking it back to exam requirements. I can also provide follow-up practice questions or short homework tasks to reinforce learning between lessons. My students range from KS3 through to A-Level, and I have experience supporting both those aiming for top grades and those looking to build confidence in the subject. Whether it's breaking down tricky biological processes, exploring computational thinking in Computer Science, or making sense of challenging Maths concepts, I aim to create lessons that are engaging, interactive, and confidence-boosting.
