About Shane

I am a current student at the university of Guelph, in accounting. I play squash on the OUA team and enjoy competition. Chess has been apart of my life since 15 when I started taking it seriously, and have been playing every day since I fell in love with the game. I’m a very laid back person who enjoys a good game and laugh, along with a coffee. I work great with kids as this was my COOP for two years, and my summer jobs have been primarily day camp counselling.

About the lesson

My lessons are instructive and focused around concrete play. I start with basic tactics for those who need it and introduce core concepts of the game. I specialize in D4 openings and am a Catalan player for white, for Black I enjoy kings Indian defence and Sicilian games. I enjoy teaching how to be aggressive with black and applying pressure to whites pieces. While on the white side how to set up positional play, and out maneuver your opponent. The lesson are catered for players from the range 0-1250 level.
