About Hélène
I was a teacher in the public school system in New Brunswick for about 18 years. I also used to teach French to adults for 4 years. The last time that I taught French was as a second language to military personnel in 2020.

My main teaching methods are introducing new concepts by letting the learners discover them by themselves. To do so, I ask questions to guide them in their discovery. Then, I give the information about concepts, if needed to be completed. Then, I give practical exercises to help them assimilate knowledge. The corrections are made all together (with a group) and the students' participation is solicited to explain the new concepts to their peers. I give my help, when needed, to complete and/or correct the explanations given by the students. Also, I make them play games to practice vocabulary. When oral practice is needed, I propose different subjects (in daily news or according to their fields of interest) to talk about one-on-one or within the group.
