Will review previous student's essays, and then will present a lecture/discussion on what would best serve the student. A list of possible class topics is below, note it is starts with the most basic skills, and moves on, eventually, to upper division university level topics. The student will, at intervals determined by me, be given a paper assignment to write on, so I can evaluate their progress.
Essay reading and grading is free of charge and done outside scheduled class time.
This class is solely concerned with teaching argumentative writing. While grammar and spelling may be discussed, they will not be the focus.
Depending on the student, might teach:

- On the substructure of an argument ( 1p, 2p, 1c, 3p, 2c)
- Logical fallacies: Should you care? should you memorize them? Are they at all helpful?
- Introduction to formal logic ( The study of argument structure, using symbolic notation to represent and assess the validity of logical statements. Focuses on form and not content.)
- On the content of an argument
- Evaluating sources
- Evaluating evidence
- Developing counterarguments
- On thought experiments & their place in essay writing
- A priori v empirical argumentation
