About Lila

Hi there!

I am a French and Japanese postgraduate student at the University of Oxford who was lucky enough to learn how to speak not only French, Japanese and English but also Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Having gone through the struggles of learning a new language as many times allows me to understand the best way to help you in your journey to attain fluency and more!

Living in several countries has made me appreciate cultural differences, world cuisines, and local accents. I am also passionate about sustainability and climate science. In fact, exploring resources about your hobby is the best way to improve in a language so you can be sure you'll always stay interested...

About the lesson

I offer flexible lessons that can focus on any aspect of the French language that you want improved, or around regular homework you need help from a native speaker with. My lesson content can range from beginner level and bases of grammar, sentence structure and pronounciation to complex written expression and comprehension. I am a believer in the importance of both spoken conversations and written expression in building confidence in a language, but equally can focus on either.

I like to meet my students to first discuss specific objectives you wish to attain, and provide advice on a suitable approach for getting there - through identifying your weaker and stronger points, but balancing them with your personal goals.

I can provide content based on French culture and cater to your interests to keep the lessons engaging and enjoyable. I will be more than happy to provide resources for you to explore in class or in your free time - movies, songs, books, podcasts, news articles and more.
I have informal teaching experience and would love to share my culture and my language learning experience.

My lessons are typically an hour long but they can be shorter or longer depending on your needs and availability.
