About Erica
My name is Erica, and I double major in rhetoric and journalism. I work as a legal intern tutor and TA throughout the school year. I have always had a passion for literature, which developed into a passion for writing and research. My goal as your tutor is to ensure that you are confident in your work and that after we collaborate, you continue with more trust in your skills as a writer.

My feedback process is collaborative, and I use a mixture of directive and facilitative feedback. When we approach an essay or piece of writing, I find that facilitative feedback is the best way to connect with you, ensuring that you maintain artistic ownership of your writing. My role is to ensure that it is technically correct and that your unique voice shines through.
When working with Grammar and Spelling, I use directive feedback. Communicating an error clearly and concisely helps the student learn and work towards mastering these skills.
At the start of my sessions, I ask for the prompt given to students to read over with them, followed by a discussion about where they think their thesis should lead. After this, we will start with a rough draft to plan out the flow of their work. Then, we will gather sources together. Finally, we will reevaluate and read the work as if we were the audience and pick out any parts of the piece that could use a final polishing.
I am a student, too. I understand the pressure to produce spectacular writing and want to work with you or your students to give clients confidence in their work and as writers.
Although I have the most experience working with collegiate-level students, I am incredibly excited to work with students of any writing level.
