About Roman

Hi! I’m Roman! As you can probably tell, I love languages and I love sharing my language obsession with students (that’s you!)

What makes me different from other teachers?

1. Results speak louder than words: I speak a total of 9 languages. As the saying goes, the shoemaker's son always goes barefoot. Well, that’s not about me, because if I had a son, he’d have 9 pairs of gorgeous shoes. I have developed a systematic language learning approach that is flexible, adaptive and gives a balance between all aspects of the language, such as speaking, reading, writing, listening, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and so on. That doesn’t mean that I don’t use textbooks though. So if you want to learn Norwegian, English, Business English and Russian, I’d be more than happy to help you with that and share all the tips and tricks on how to learn a foreign language!

2. We will base our lessons on your goals and objectives as well as your feedback that I will be always gathering. Also, I will be constantly making sure that you are moving towards your goals and achieving them as all of my students did. The goals of my students varied from a desire to just start speaking, writing and reading, to being admitted to universities in their target countries and getting a job all over the world.

3. When teaching, I love to explain complex things very simply. My students always say something like: “Woah! I never understood this rule with other teachers or in other languages! Now I finally get it!” So don’t be scared of grammar, unfamiliar rules or sounds! All these things will be naturally and organically intertwined into your speech during our lessons!

4. With me, you are going to learn the real spoken language, not the one used in outdated textbooks. I will also help you master pronunciation and make sure you sound super fluent. About the lesson

I’ve been giving group classes at educational centers as well as giving individual lessons, both face-to-face and online. I have helped 100s of students all over the world to get rid of the fear of speaking a foreign language, finally break the language barrier, get the perfect pronunciation and accomplish their life goals!

I also have over 4 years of extensive experience in IT as a Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Team Lead, Project Manager in an agile environment in distributed cross-cultural teams. I have delivered a huge number of projects working with clients from the United States and New Zealand. So if you need to learn Business English as well, you’ve found a perfect teacher for that.

- I’m fluent in English, Norwegian, Russian, Swedish and Danish.
- I’m also fairly fluent in Belarusian.
- And I can get by fairly well in Spanish, French, and Dutch.

However, I do not teach in Spanish, French and Dutch yet. Furthermore, I always explain not only the similarities between your mother tongue (whatever it might be) and the language you are learning, but I also do my best to teach you through your native language and other languages you speak.

Roman is able to explain grammar in such a way that it doesn’t seem as complicated any longer. He uses examples from the languages I speak and therefore everything just starts to make sense and becomes crystal clear!

Another thing we’ve been working on is pronunciation. Roman can explain in detail how to make different sounds (how to place my tongue, what should be happening with my lips, throat, jaw, and so on).

When we practice speaking, writing, listening, and other skills, he keeps reminding me of the newly learned sounds in new words and of the grammar we learned when used differently. It helps to remember everything for real and start seeing all that grammar in use in the language as well as all these letter combinations that make the same sound!

I learned a lot of things throughout my life, but lessons with Roman are just on a whole new level! Highly highly recommend!

A year ago I was about A2-B1 in Norwegian. Then I found Roman and after a year of studying with him I passed the B2 exam. It is fun to learn Norwegian with him. Also he often uses Zoom drawing tools and sketches to explain something. It always increases understanding of grammar and other things.
