About Julie
I am originally an Environmental Scientist, with an international double degree. By studying in France (my home country), Germany, Denmark and Austria, I got to learn the cultural and linguistic differences that one can face when learning a new language. Despite my scientific background, I find languages fascinating and cannot stop learning new ones. I got the chance to be a French teacher at a Montessori School in Vienna, Austria. I was teaching 13- to 15-year-old students who were purely beginners in French. The same year, I was also tutoring a Bosnian teenager who had struggles with French classes at school (intermediate level) while still learning German as main studying language. My students gained much confidence, using a broader range of vocabulary, with an improved accent and better understanding of the French culture. I am always happy to assist people willing to learn French and I am aware of the complexity and challenges one can encounter when doing so.

I would like to tutor French to people with all level and age or degree. The tutoring could, for instance, be focused on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, writing or culture (with an extra hint of my dear native region the South West).
As far as my tutoring/teaching approach, I favorize the personality of each student rather than having a systemic teaching approach. I know too well that we are all very different, with different ways of learning, of understanding and with various points of interest. That is why I base my approach on apprehending what are my students’ strengths and weaknesses to find the best way to progress in French. It is very important for me to elevate my students as well, in the sense that I often noticed a lot of them being not very confident while having a good reasoning strategy and good understanding. One of my goal is, by teaching French, to help people regaining lost confidence and appreciating better the way(s) they learn the most effectively. I am fully involved in my students’ success as tutor. That is what fulfills me. It is such a great reward!
I usually try to build stimulating exercises that will motivate the student(s), depending on their way of learning as well (e.g. some need a broader and deeper understanding of what they are doing, and some learn better when playing an applied board game). I also like to immerse the students as much as possible in the language, by simply talking a few sentences of French at every lessons, according to their level in French.

I am a beginner and Julie has been very patient and makes learning French fun and interesting. Because she is from France, she can explain the language nuances from the perspective of a native speaker. Her English is excellent. She is organized and prompt. I would highly recommend Julie to members interested in learning French.
