About Holly
I have been tutoring English (KS3-GCSE) since November 2020 and have taught nearly 10 students! I have experience teaching both English Language and Literature, as well as creative writing, so I'm always prepared for any subject challenges - as far as my own qualifications go, I achieved an A* equivalent in English A-Level (7 points on the IB), and a First Class History degree from the University of Birmingham.

Most pupils I've worked with have been KS3 level, but I have had a number of GCSE students and would love to work with students at a A-Level/IB.
I try to interweave lecture-style teaching and interactive tasks throughout each lesson, so that pupils remain engaged throughout; I also like to give my students the opportunity for independent study (e.g. on a creative writing or essay task) as this tends to improve their confidence.
I don't tend to set homework, however, I do encourage my students to read widely outside of classes in order to improve their literacy and writing skills - a particular favourite part of my lessons has been the 'poem/book of the week' feature, where I ask my pupil to tell me about something inspiring that they read that week.
