About Catherine

I am a fully qualified English Secondary teacher, and as such, have lots of experience working with students with SEND needs or SEMH needs.
I have been teaching students for nearly a decade. I have an enormous passion for the written word and studied journalism and English at university to MA level. It's safe to say I know my Chaucer and Shakespeare. Students have lots of pressures in the modern world and I'd like to think that I can help with at least some of that by tutoring and helping you to improve. I do like to have a bit of a laugh and enjoy the lessons, but I also take my cue from you and will adapt my style to best help you.

About the lesson

Lessons are one hour, typically starting with some discussion to determine how best to work with you and help you as a student. I believe that you need to tell me the important bits about you e.g. if you have a test coming up, we can incorporate that.
We will look at how you're progressing in specific topics and then develop key skills to enable you to respond well to assessments and exams. I set homework, but understand that tutoring is extra and we can work around your time available.
I currently work as a full time English tutor with students from schools across Leicestershire and have been teaching for the past eight years. I have quite a lot of experience as a tutor, having gained lots of skills in the tutoring world.
