About Bea
I am a writer, artist and educator with over ten years of experience in education and the arts. I currently teach in the Ithaca City School District while preparing for a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting. I have had my theatrical writing performed in theatres, community centers, bookstores, schools, and colleges across the northeast, midwest and southeast as a writer in several theatre companies.
I graduated with distinction from Shimer College in the core curriculum of the University of Chicago. My undergraduate thesis focused on the trauma healing potential of live performance for returning veterans of war based on readings of the Oresteia trilogy by Aeschylus, and writing of critical theorist Susan Sontag and psychologists Jonathan Shay and Bessel van der Kolk.

My class on academic writing covers the easy-to-follow steps of writing an academic in any undergraduate discipline: categorizing the information available to us about our subject, breaking down that information into a cogent analysis of its meaning, forming a thesis or argument based on our analysis, presenting the information we've arranged as evidence that supports our thesis, and appealing to our reader with a thoughtful conclusion.
I firmly believe that anyone can write an analytic paper in any of the core undergraduate subjects. With seven years of experience in composition in higher education, I will be a supportive and understanding partner in helping you complete your assignment and master the skills necessary to be an exemplary writer.
