About Rebecca
I’ve always loved English, and it’s been my favourite subject since I was little. I experienced tutoring myself in English when I came up to exams in Primary School when I felt like I could improve. During my schooling I felt that it was so easy for students to slip through the cracks due to class size and less attendance time overall, so I’m very passionate about students being able to get the best education possible through other means if they have to, like I previously did. I understand that each student is different, and they can struggle for a multitude of different reasons, but it’s important for them to realise that they’re more than capable of achieving and improving in a different learning environment. I love seeing pupils begin to understand and then love a subject that I feel so passionate, and I’m more than happy to help.

Tutoring English requires that I take a personal approach to each student, their current proficiency, and their needs in order to create a teaching plan that is engaging and genuinely helpful to the student. This means that the length of the lesson can be different for each student based on how they best learn and concentrate, although I personally find that an hour to an hour and a half is best. I like to first discuss what parts of the subject students find challenging and then test their proficiency through both verbal discussions to questions and a written response. In this first session I would also explore which kind of learning methods work best for them so I can then tailor make lesson plans over the next few sessions to incorporate these methods into hitting each aspect of the curriculum and overcoming what the student finds challenging about English.
At GCSE level, I achieved two 9’s in English Literature and Language, and I recently achieved an A in A Level English Literature. I’m familiar with the AQA, Edexcel, Eduquas, and OCR exam boards English, and I have two years of experience tutoring reading comprehension and English.
I teach students at GCSE and A Level, both for the exams and in the years prior, as well as adults in a non academic standpoint. Im also happy to teach Primary level students for the SAT’s, and the 11+.
