My passion for science, youth, and education has driven me to change my career path to becoming an educator. With a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental studies from a liberal arts college, and experience in the work force, I have a particular well-roundedness that makes for a positive influence on young minds and habits. I strongly believe in supporting mental health directly alongside a strong academic education. I believe that the most effective learning happens when the individual’s wellbeing is prioritized. With my exceptional social awareness and emotional intelligence, I believe I will lead students to their absolute fullest potential. Throughout high school and college, I taught swim lessons to people of different ages through diverse programs like Team Unified and my own private swim school groups. My experience working directly with people, often in a highly vulnerable position of learning to swim for the first time, has made me exceptionally attuned to the communicative, structural, and emotional needs of children and adolescents. I understand that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to tutoring and mentoring, which is where my ability to connect with individuals allows me to create a safe and positive atmosphere where students feel empowered and excited, not stressed, about learning.
