About Kate

I'm a working actor, a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1992, and a graduate of the Second City Conservatory with additional training at The Groundlings. I have twenty years of stage experience, including musical theater. I have more than 1,000 hours of acting, coaching, self-taping and callbacks on Zoom (which is the future of casting).

About the lesson

I approach acting utilizing different acting techniques, plus lessons learned in my 50 years as an actor. I love teaching and coaching, and I'll help you find your character and make bold choices that are thoroughly grounded in both reality and imagination. I'm a big fan of subtext - which is one of an actor's best tools. I'm supportive and encouraging - and I'll be your biggest fan. I can help you with self-tapes as well, both as a reader and using available technology.

Perfect! I just want to say coming into acting as a complete beginner Kate has been nothing but an outstanding coach for me. I make a lot more mistakes than she does, and so I know that her notes are clear, direct, and constructive. We can laugh at an egregious blooper and then get right back to business. Even when I've let her down, her response to difficulties is always problem-solving, never blame.

Need scenes and/or monologues?

Film (drama, comedy), on camera technique. Television (sitcoms, procedurals), stage, commercials, voiceover (commercial, character) - and even Shakespeare. I can work with you on scenes you choose; teach you to break down your scene, find transitions, make those high-value choices, Sherlock-Holmes the subtext and prep you for your in-person, self-tape and/or Zoom auditions. When it's time to create your self-tape, I will read with you to ensure you do your best work.

I've been in the business for nearly 50 years; I'm a working actor with an agent and manager. I can help you find your type/brand.
