About Zara

I have over 8 years of experience teaching violin, with a strong background in Nordic folk traditions such as Norwegian Fiddle, Swedish Fiddle, and Klezmer music. My training includes an Associate of Music in String Performance, and I bring that expertise into every lesson. I focus on teaching ornamentation and rhythmic bowing patterns that are essential to these vibrant styles. My lessons often include ear-based learning, helping students develop a natural feel for folk melodies and rhythms. I use folk jam tracks and drone tuners to support your ear training and keep you in tune. Repertoire-based instruction is central to my method, so you learn through playing real folk tunes that inspire. I love sharing the rich sounds and traditions of these cultures through the violin. My approach is both fun and authentic, helping you connect deeply with the music. Whether you are a beginner or looking to explore folk styles, I provide patient guidance and encouragement.
