  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed an interest in mathematics at a very young age. As a child, I was always fascinated by numbers and patterns, and I found joy in solving puzzles and logical problems. This interest grew stronger in high school, where I excelled in math competitions and enjoyed the challenge of advanced mathematical concepts. My passion for mathematics led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, where I chose to major in Combinatorics and Optimization. The elegance and complexity of these fields captivated me, and I was intrigued by their vast applications in various industries. My interest further expanded into Economics and Pure Mathematics, prompting me to pursue double minors in these subjects. Additionally, I am currently working towards my CPA designation, which combines my love for math with practical applications in finance and accounting.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

What makes me passionate about mathematics is its universal language and its ability to explain and solve real-world problems. Mathematics is not just about numbers; it's about thinking critically, finding patterns, and understanding the underlying principles that govern various phenomena. This discipline teaches problem-solving skills that are applicable in almost every field. I am also passionate about the beauty of pure mathematics and the logical structure that underpins economic theories. The challenge of complex problems and the satisfaction of finding solutions drive my enthusiasm. Sharing this passion with my students and helping them discover the joy and utility of mathematics, finance, and economics is incredibly rewarding for me.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring allows me to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for mathematics and related subjects with others. I enjoy the process of breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more understandable terms and seeing the moment when a student grasps a difficult idea. What makes me a "Superprof" is my dedication to personalized teaching. Over the past four years, I have worked with a diverse range of students, tailoring my teaching methods to meet their unique needs. I provide handwritten notes, use real-world examples, and encourage active learning to ensure my students not only understand the material but also gain confidence in their abilities. My commitment to my students' success and my ability to adapt to different learning styles set me apart as an exceptional tutor.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

One of my greatest role models is my high school math teacher. She had a unique way of making math both fun and accessible, using creative teaching methods to engage her students. Her passion for the subject was infectious, and she always encouraged us to think critically and ask questions. Her belief in my potential inspired me to pursue higher education in mathematics. Her dedication to her students and her ability to make complex topics understandable have greatly influenced my teaching philosophy. I strive to bring the same level of enthusiasm and clarity to my tutoring sessions as she did in her classroom.
  • What are your keys to success?

The keys to my success are a combination of passion, perseverance, and adaptability. My passion for mathematics and teaching drives me to continuously improve my knowledge and skills. Perseverance helps me tackle challenging problems and stay motivated through difficult times. Adaptability allows me to tailor my teaching methods to the unique needs of each student, ensuring that they receive the support they need to succeed. Additionally, effective communication and active listening are crucial in understanding my students' concerns and providing clear explanations. Finally, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering a supportive learning environment helps my students feel confident and motivated to achieve their academic goals.
