I provide research and statistics tutoring services to college, undergraduate, and graduate-level students with a non-statistics background who want to do well in research methodology & statistic courses.

I have several years of tutoring and teaching experience and am happy to provide support for ongoing courses, as well as help you prepare for exams, tests, quizzes, assignments, etc.

Some topics covered include:
- Descriptive stats
- Basic statistical theory
- Inferential stats
- Regression
- Systematic and scoping reviews
- Scientific writing
- Data analysis with excel, SPSS, etc..

My teaching strategy varies according to the student’s individual needs. Generally, I like to keep an active environment where students feel comfortable to ask their questions and participate in discussions. After each session, class notes and follow-up materials are shared with students for future study.

Note:
- Strictly no coursework will be completed for the student or on behalf of the student. This is considered plagiarism and/or cheating and it is unethical, immoral and illegal.

- The free trial session (~15-30 mins) is intended to get to know each other, look over the syllabus, create a meeting plan, etc. Please note that no lessons will be given this session.

Learn more about Dr Fara, PhD (Top Tutor)

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I developed an interest in stats during the first year of my undergrad in psychology. At first, I absolutely hated statistics! However, I learnt that by breaking down the (intimidating) course material and asking for help when needed, it was a subject that I could very well succeed at (and even learn to like!)
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

I always loved learning. However, stats was definitely the subject that I had the most difficulty in throughout my studies. The feeling of overcoming this challenge was extremely rewarding and ultimately led to pursuing my PhD studies in Biomedical & Health Sciences.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

As a psych major who really struggled with stats during my undergrad years, I totally get you! Even though it might be a stretch to say that I hope you will learn to fall in love with stats one day (like I did), my key strength is to explain concepts in a way that makes sense for students with a social science/health background.

I am confident that each and every one of my students have the potential to achieve their goals. Being a small part of their journey and watching them succeed is my favorite part of being a tutor.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain

Definitely! My own stats tutor during my university course. She was patient, super encouraging, and always believed in me.
  • What are your keys to success?

1 - Understanding the unique needs of students. Each student might need a bit of a different approach to learning, and it is the tutor's job to quickly adapt to the learning style that fits best.

2 - Always ask for clarification when you are not sure about something! There is no such thing as a stupid question and it is always better to ask than to risk making the same mistake again and again.

3 - If at first, you don't succeed at a problem, try again! This one might be a little cliché but trying is definitely the first step towards succeeding.
