About Nicolò G

Welcome foreigner! My name is Nicolò and I am a 30-year-old multi-instrumentalist (transverse flute, guitar, woodwind, etc.), two thirds of which are studded with experience in music played, in Italy and abroad. I started studying the transverse flute at the age of 11 with professional musician teachers graduated from the conservatory. At the age of 14 I picked up my first electric guitar. I studied the 6-string both by self-taught and with courses aimed at learning a genre (blues, jazz, funk, Celtic). From 2006 to 2014 I was a guitarist-songwriter in two bands, producing original pieces and playing several stages in Lombardy, including the Alcatraz in Milan. Since 2014, after completing a course in engineering and music production, I started building a "home" recording studio to independently produce songs with a more experimental, instrumental and free flavor. Between 2019 and 2020, when I resided in Ireland, I entered the magical world of traditional Celtic music, learning the genre while playing it in typical informal sessions in the pubs of the North West, participating in themed festivals and studying it with courses and individually. Also in that period I started giving guitar lessons, discovering a passion for teaching music that comes from the joy of making it and seeing it done. I already have several years of experience as an educator / mentor in my field, the environmental one, with both children and adults. With me you learn with ease, au pair and having fun.

My method is modulated according to the starting point and the student's desires for improvement, but with one fixed point: never frustrate the student with cacophonous exercises and notions for their own sake, but rather put them in a position to marvel at their own musicality. right away, with his own ears. More music less tedious. I generally use an intuitive-exploratory but also an analytical method: we will take a journey to the center of music, we will learn its secrets, in order to discover why something sounds good and something else bad, and how to benefit from it for writing simple and original songs. on the guitar. What you will learn you will choose between: Historical and structural introduction of the instrument - fundamentals of musicology - theory - harmony - technique - expression - composition - ear training - accompaniment - solo - rudiments of blues, jazz, funk, Celtic - targeted learning of songs / songs of any genre - approach to music production (tracking, mixing, mastering) - approach to songwriting. If theory doesn't interest you, we'll keep it to a bare minimum and focus on technique and expression, using only our ears to evaluate. If you want a more structured path (which will lead you to master the instrument), we will study modes, scales, chords, intervals, etc. but always playing, listening and finding applications immediately and intuitively musical. Being a multi-instrumentalist, we will also be able to make ensemble music if you want to practice your ability to play with others. At your home (in full compliance with anti-contagion measures) and / or online.
