  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I am from Egypt, but was born and raised in Qatar. so, by this equation I am native Arabic speaker with two different dialect backgrounds.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

Different figures have contributed significantly to the development and innovation of Arabic culture and language throughout history. One of them is Abu al-Aswad ad-Du'ali, a man who changed the shape of the Arabic alphabet by introducing harakat and dots. Most Arabs are unaware that before his innovations, the Arabic alphabet had no dots or harakat. These two advancements made the Arabic language much easier to learn for both foreigners and native speakers.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

One of the things I like about the Arabic language is its richness in synonyms. You can find multiple words for the same thing, which makes it flexible and helps in communication. No matter which word you choose, the person you are speaking to will understand you.

Another thing I admire is the diversity of Arab cultures, as each one has its own unique way of showing hospitality and greeting others.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

It is the language of the Quran and one of the most spoken languages in the world. By learning Arabic, you can expand into a huge market simply by understanding the language. So, its importance is not only religious but also extends to other aspects, such as business.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The richness of Arabic vocabulary, with multiple words for the same meaning, can sometimes confuse students. They may understand the meaning but struggle to recognize certain words, making it a challenge. However, this linguistic diversity can also be an advantage in speaking—if you forget one word, you have multiple alternatives to express yourself clearly.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school

While I was learning about how to construct a poem, I struggled to understand "البحور" (al-Buhur), which literally means "seas," but actually refers to the rhythmic patterns or musical tones on which the structure of the poem is built. One day, a professor explained one of these rhythms by knocking on a table with a coin. From that moment on, I found it easy to explain it to others by mimicking the sound of a coin tapping on a table. It always works as a great way to convey the rhythm!
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

My last trip was to Qatar in 2022 for the World Cup. It was an incredible experience filled with opportunities to engage with people from various cultures. I had the chance to discuss Arabic and the history behind each language with fans from all over the world, each bringing their own unique perspectives.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

As a native Arabic speaker with a deep passion for the diversity of dialects between the Gulf and Egyptian regions, I believe this combination gives me a unique edge in discussing and clarifying the Arabic language from different perspectives. It allows me to help students gain a deeper understanding of the language.

Additionally, with over five years of experience teaching Arabic and the Quran, I’ve developed a great deal of patience and a tailored approach to motivate and support my students. This helps them stay engaged, continue learning, and grow in their language journey.
