About Alliyah
I am a second year student majoring in Anthropology and Biology at the University of Auckland. Back in high school, English was one of my favourite subjects and I have a genuine passion for reading, writing and seeing younger students perform well in English. It's a very important skill to be able to write formally, but also structure and development of ideas is a very difficult aspect that several students aren't fully taught. I want students to be able to enjoy English as a subject because it's one of the most common ways of expressing thought. Creative writing is also something I do for fun.
Aside from academia and English, I love playing and keeping up with various professional sports particularly football (soccer for the Americans), basketball, volleyball and netball. My passion is for football though, so I'm a very devoted Liverpool fan. I also like a little bit of tennis. I've also got a very diverse music taste ranging from ABBA to Doja Cat, Harry Styles to Rachmaninoff, Bon Jovi to Tom Odell.

* Teaching will be centred according to the student's goals and intentions. Sometimes students may not be fully aware of what they need help with (which is okay!) and so it's important to hopefully find those gaps in learning and help to fill them. Teaching will also be adapted to suit all types of learning (visual, oral, active-recall).
* Most effective when it comes to proofreading and editing, giving feedback on essays and aspects to improve.
* Sessions are 1hr but very flexible according to you!
Qualifications:
* Endorsed NCEA English with Excellence at Levels 1, 2 & 3
* Obtained NCEA Scholarship in English (2020)
Lessons are targeted toward intermediate & secondary school students (Y7–13).
