My Approach to Tutoring and How I Teach My Classes
As a music producer and immersive audio specialist with years of hands-on industry experience, my teaching approach is centered around creativity, clarity, and real-world application. I create a relaxed but focused environment where students can explore music production at their own pace, while gaining a deep understanding of both the technical and artistic sides of the craft.
Techniques & Teaching Methodology
I teach through a project-based, student-led approach. Lessons often involve:
Creating and finishing full tracks using industry-standard DAWs like Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and Logic Pro.
Analyzing professional productions to understand structure, arrangement, and sonic techniques.
Developing skills in sound design, mixing, and mastering—with special attention to spatial audio (Dolby Atmos, binaural, Ambisonics).
Feedback and revision sessions, helping students refine their sound and workflow.
My methodology blends technical fundamentals with the freedom to experiment, incorporating everything from field recording to modular synthesis depending on the student's interest.
Typical Lesson Length
Lessons are usually 60 minutes, with the option to go longer for in-depth projects or mix critiques. Each session is structured around learning a new concept, applying it practically, and setting goals for the next session.
My Experience & Qualifications
Founder of an immersive audio studio pecializing in Dolby Atmos mixing, immersive media, and sound design.
Former Audio Archivist at Universal Music UK, where I worked on high-profile remastering and HD upgrades.
Extensive production and mixing work across multiple genres and platforms—including commercial releases, spatial audio, and sound for visual media.
BA in Music Technology from Maynooth University.
I’m deeply familiar with the full production pipeline—from recording and arrangement to mastering and release strategy—and I bring that breadth into every lesson.
Who My Lessons Are For
I work with:
Beginners who want to learn the basics of production and beat making
Intermediate producers looking to improve mixing/mastering or expand into immersive formats
Teens and adults with a creative drive and curiosity about sound
Musicians, podcasters, and multimedia creators interested in learning how to produce and mix their own content
Whether you’re making your first beat or prepping a project for release, I help students stay inspired while building real skills.
