About Suzie
I am a qualified English teacher, specialising in working with students of all ages with special needs. I am also a qualified SENCO. I have worked in both mainstream and special education for over 20 years and have considerable experience in helping students of all ages with Dyslexic-type difficulties including university students to improve their English. Most recently I have worked for 12 years as Head of English, Acting SENCO and then Head of Sixth Form in a special school. This involved devising, delivering and monitoring the curriculum for students with moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as those with highly complex needs. I have a good working knowledge of both Makaton and PECS as well as extensive ASD and behaviour modification training.

I believe that students of all ages learn best when they feel comfortable with their teacher. I aim to quickly develop a rapport with students and their caregivers, listening to their concerns and identifying their needs. I tailor sessions around objectives in the Education and Health Care Plan and Individual Education Plan if appropriate and am highly flexible in my approach.

Perfect! Suzie has been tutoring our 13 year old son for a month or so now and has achieved so much with him in a relatively short space of time. Zac was recently diagnosed with dyslexia and we'd been looking for a tutor that can support him practically with study skills. She has taken the time to build a relationship with him and to understand exactly what he needs to develop and grow. Would definitely recommend Suzie.
- Suzie's response :
Perfect! Suzie was very patient and tailored the lessons to the needs of my ASD child. She was friendly and chatty about my daughter's interests. She picked topics that were of interest to her and went at her pace. Communication with me was regular and prompt throughout and both my daughter and I enjoyed her lessons.

When my son did not receive the grades he was predicted in his mock GCSE’s I decided to look for somebody who could give him extra tuition and build his confidence. I was keen to find somebody who had a teaching qualification and who could support with SEND as well. Suzie’s profile appeared in my search so I got in contact. I got a really quick reply and we set up a meeting online. Before we began she asked for information and a run down of what my son found challenging. From the moment we met Suzie we knew she would be the perfect tutor. She was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and encouraging. My son came out of his first session with far more confidence and enthusiasm for English. He has commented since that he would willingly do double sessions with Suzie and her sessions fly by!
Suzie offers extra sessions which we take whenever we can. Recently we used an extra session to support with an English oral exam which was incredibly useful and my son delivered his talk on Lewis Hamilton with confidence to a large audience.
She has made such a difference to a subject that is so important to pass these days. We have another year to go and I am really grateful I found Suzie in time!Suzie has been teaching my daughter for nearly a year now and she has been excellent. My daughter has now improved in both language and literature and confidently looking to appear for her GCSE exams. Thanks you, madam.
Suzie tutors my 15 year old son for GCSE English. Whilst he is academic and doing well in all other subjects, he struggles with English and as a result, his motivation. Suzie has adapted her style to ensure it complements rather than clashes with his school tuition. She is patient and gives Tom the time he needs to digest the methods and she is well prepared for each lesson. I would highly recommend Suzie as she teaches in an engaging manner and adapts to the needs of the student very well. Suzie is responsive and always willing to answer my (many) queries in between lessons and as a result he is making great progress.
Suzie is an excellent English tutor. We are very grateful she is tutoring our son in GCSE English language and English literature. Suzie took the time to discuss with Zack, build rapport, learn about his personality and understand what tools / techniques work best with him.
Suzie has access to many resources to help him acquire the correct English language terminology, learn the texts themes and quotes, develop well structured ideas and improve his creative writing. As the exams are approaching, they are working on past papers in timed conditions, reviewing his answers and providing valuable feedback.
Suzie is teaching methodically with a true passion for English and tremendously care for students success. Our son has already improved significantly and joined the top set class. Finally, Suzie makes learning fun. She’s the absolute best in our view !We highly recommend Suzie as an English GCSE tutor. Our daughter made excellent progress and benefited greatly from Suzie's in-depth knowledge of the subjects and the support given. Suzie has an enthusiastic approach and creates a relaxed but productive learning atmosphere, allowing students to grow in confidence and reach their full potential.
Suzie has been brilliant in building confidence in Henry who is dyslexic and dysgraphic. A former SENDCO, Suzie has gone above and beyond to engage with his teachers and bring about a better understanding. Henry enjoys her sessions and is learning many transferable skills. Suzie comes thoroughly recommended!
My daughter (aged 10) loves her lessons with Suzie, she’s very friendly and easy going, has mainly been concentrating on methods to help my daughter cope with dyslexia.
Would definitely recommend.Suzie is a passionate, friendly and effective tutor! She has helped my child improve his grades and confidence in the subject. Highly recommend!
My 12 year old son is having English lessons with Suzie. He improved a lot in English. Her way of teaching and support are incredible. She is flexible and support even outside of class time . She is approachable . I highly recommend her
MadhuriSuzie is an amazing knowledgeable tutor with unending patience. She inspires working with fun and laughter whilst also ensuring the work gets done .
Suzie is a brilliant English teacher and I really enjoy my lessons with her. I've learnt a lot and feel much more confident with the subject now and with my forthcoming GCSEs this Summer. I have an online lesson with Suzie every week and she makes these sessions fun and explains everything really well. I find her very reassuring and patient. I definitely recommend Suzie!
Suzie is patient, friendly and flexible. She works hard to identify my daughter’s English level and discuss her personal targets. After each lesson Suzie provides a log of what has been learnt and the next steps which is very useful to parents. My daughter loves her from the first lesson?
Suzie has been so supportive and patient with my son Iestyn. She has quickly picked up on what works for him and she has been so adaptable. Nothing is too much trouble - iestyn is always excited for his lessons with Suzie
Suzie has been tutoring my son (just finished Year 9) for a little while now. Due to his dyslexia, he has struggled at school. Suzie is friendly, positive, and patient. She is knowledgeable about how best to help my son and he has been able to learn things he has always struggled with (months of the year, days of the week and time) in such a short period of time. Suzie allows my son to focus on areas he would like to learn, at a suitable speed and is learning a range of skills. I can not wait to see his progress with his GCSEs next year, thanks to Suzie’s help.
Suzie has been phenomenal in tutoring my 13 year dyslexic daughter. She has been outstanding from our first conversation and has gone above and beyond to structure her learning to suit her needs whilst increasing her confidence beyond belief. I could not recommend Suzie more highly. To see the huge improvement in Skye's learning and her motivation to learn has been truly life changing and we are so grateful to have Suzie as her tutor. Thank you Suzie!!
Great tutor. Could not recommend enough.
I trust her because she is the best role model for being the best teacher. She made my daughter more confident in her lesson and within a short period of time, my daughter learnt a lot from Suzie. She is wonderful and excellent .
Suzie is an amazing leader and a dedicated teacher to pupils. She put pupils needs before her needs. She taught pupils in special school who were Autistic and those with MLD and SLD. She has conducted lots of training to staff and parents, supporting parents who struggled at home with behaviour issues. She set out 5Ps and IEPs for pupils and worked tirelessly with families to support them with guidance at home towards independence and academic skills.
Suzie promoted bespoke teaching strategies to all teachers. She believed that pupils are different and needed individual approaches.
She was an amazing head of department with a good sense of humour and a lot of teaching experience in different categories.
Empathy and integrity are Suzie's hallmarks, and she has an admirable gift for inspiring others to pursue their dreams. Her devoted professionalism, delightful personality and infectious sense of humour equip her splendidly for tutoring, with her approach thoughtfully tailored to the needs of each individual student. I recommend Suzie unconditionally.
I've had the privilege to have worked with Suzie since 2017 (she was head of Sixth Form and head of English prior to that) and I can safely say she is a most able Teacher. Having a knack of moulding herself to students' varying levels and ability to adjust approach/pace accordingly has won her numerous penny-drop moments. An engaging personality also shines through.
Best regards,
I have been a friend and colleague of Suzie's for more than 10 years. Suzie is calm and patient with even the most challenging students, maintaining a professional but friendly attitude. She is able to adapt her approach as situations change to respond to her students needs. Throughout that time Suzie has had experience of working with pupils with a variety of needs and abilities across a range of subjects.
Suzie is an excellent teacher, and was a great colleague to work with. She has a flexible, 'no stone unturned' approach to securing the best outcomes for young people, and has worked with a highly diverse range of pupils with an array of strengths and needs. As well as being highly professional, she is a very warm and empathetic person.
