About Niko
Hi, I’m a piano tutor with over 9 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano. Music has been a lifelong passion for me, especially in the areas of composition and songwriting. I bring that same creativity into every lesson I teach. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and always personalised to each student’s goals and learning pace. I work with learners of all ages—school students, college students, adults, and working professionals. Whether you're just getting started or returning to the piano after a break, I’ll help guide you forward. I specialise in chord theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and performance skills. These are all key elements in building confident, expressive piano players. I’ve supported students at Intermediate and Advanced levels, as well as those working at a Professional or Expert stage. Lessons are designed to keep you challenged, motivated, and enjoying the process. I aim to create a supportive and inspiring space where your unique musical voice can grow. My teaching approach for piano lessons is centred on building a strong foundation while encouraging personal expression. I tailor each lesson to suit the student's level, pace, and goals—whether they’re just starting or picking it up again after years. We begin with keyboard technique, focusing on hand shape, finger strength, and coordination for relaxed, confident playing. Ear training is woven into each lesson to sharpen listening and improve musical memory. I also integrate music theory in a practical way, so students understand what they’re playing and why it works. Improvisation and creative play are encouraged to spark curiosity and personal style. For students who learn quickly, I offer challenge pieces, advanced rhythm work, and early composition tools to stretch their potential. For adults learning as a passion, lessons are supportive, flexible, and paced to bring joy without pressure. Performance skills are built gradually through fun pieces, ensemble playing, and optional mini recitals. I use simple tools, apps, and recordings to keep learning interactive and motivating. Overall, I aim to create a positive, structured environment where every student feels seen, heard, and inspired to grow.
