About Blair
My teaching approach focuses on building musical fluency from day one. I want students to feel like they’re making real music, not just pressing keys. We begin with songs and patterns that sound good right away while slowly building strong foundations. I teach finger independence with playful exercises that feel natural and fun. We use rhythm games and real-time clapping to develop steady timing and groove. Reading fluency is taught step by step, using both notation and ear-based methods so students grow confident in any setting. Whether it’s a pop tune or a gospel progression, I help students learn what they love while guiding them to understand chords, structure, and feeling. Students who play in church or enjoy popular music will find support in learning how to play from lead sheets, follow harmonic flow, and improvise with ease. I teach how to add fills, dynamics, and rhythm in a way that fits the style and lifts the music.

With six years of devoted teaching and a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA), I guide students into the lyrical world where music meets meaning. My approach is rooted in more than just technique—it's about awakening emotion, exploring atmosphere, and discovering the poetry within each phrase.
Each lesson is an invitation to step into stories without words, where a single chord can suggest longing, and silence can speak volumes. I draw from literature, imagery, and symbolism to enrich the learning experience, helping students connect with pieces on a deeper level.
Together, we explore repertoire that breathes—works that shimmer with mood, texture, and inner life. Whether it’s the mysterious shadows of Debussy or the heartache hidden in a Chopin nocturne, we uncover the feeling beneath the notes.
I work especially well with creative learners, dreamers, and sensitive souls—those who long to not only play music but live inside it. Lessons are a space for curiosity, reflection, and expressive freedom.
