About Dana

I studied and earned an B.S. (Bachelors of Science) in Electrical and Computer Engineering with City College of New York. I was 2 classes shy of a B.S. Mathematics. I attended NYU for my M.S. (Masters in Science) Computer Engineering where I left after one year to attend Teach For America and attend Hunter College Masters in Education full time While teaching in the South Bronx for two years. I then earned my Masters of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science at LIU.

I prefer working one on one or in small groups instead of classes which is why I left teaching. I eventually received security clearance and have worked for the Army. I’m tutoring now in between jobs as I left to study for my Professional Engineering certification to earn more with the government in the future.

About the lesson

Like I said, I can break the lesson as well as problems down where it’s very easy to understand the math. Sometimes we don’t catch what’s taught because it may not be taught in ways we understand. Being able to tutor online gives students a huge advantage as they can visually see what I’m teaching and I’m a big fan of colors.

I’m also a big fan of relating what’s being taught in the real world and help understand how it can help you.

Fun fact, did you know that if you have three points that make a right triangle, just like you’re walking around town by a park. Let’s say you want to get to one of the points the quickest way possible, using the hypotenuse and walk through the park diagonally, is the shortest line in a right triangle and will get you there sooner.

Another fun fact, by teaching percentages I can give you a really easy way to
Calculate them? So when you go out to dinner I can show you in just two steps how to calculate the tip whether it be 15%, 18%, 20%, or any percent you’d like?
