About Rachel
I am a Mathematics and Actuarial Science senior attending Dillard University. I have taught and tutored students freelance and through several organizations. I helped create the curriculum and structure of the Emerging Scholars program as an SI Instructor for a year. I also worked with under privileged schools with the Algebra Project for a year. My other six years of experience comes from working in Dillard's math lab as their leading tutor. I am comfortable teaching privately or in group settings with classroom sizes up to 30 students.

I believe that academic success is possible for all students, no matter what their background. Specifically with math courses, there are three key elements. First, I work on securing the foundation of basic arithmetic skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Second, I push for my students to understand the concepts rather than just the methods. Lastly, individualizing the lessons to play to a student's strengths and aid their weaknesses. With this approach to teaching and tutoring, several of my students have reported not only more success in their present math courses but throughout their academic careers.
