About Bennett

I am a dedicated violin tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music Education specialising in Strings – Violin. My journey in music has allowed me to work closely with students of all ages, guiding them both individually and in group settings. I’ve had the privilege of directing string ensembles, leading group violin classes, and conducting youth orchestras with great success. My background includes teaching in schools, mentoring in community centres, and performing with various chamber groups. I bring a strong focus on section leadership, helping students understand their role within the larger sound. I emphasise ensemble dynamics, listening across the group, and tuning together as a unified team. Team musicianship is at the heart of my teaching. I believe in nurturing technical precision alongside musical collaboration. Students in my groups learn not just how to play, but how to play together. I enjoy creating an environment where every player feels valued and challenged. Each rehearsal is a step toward stronger communication and expression through music. There’s a special joy that comes from ensemble playing—the energy, connection, and growth shared by all. My goal is to inspire that joy in every student and help them thrive as part of something greater.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centred around making violin learning enjoyable, structured, and expressive. I focus on building strong foundations in technique, posture, and bow control while also encouraging creativity and individuality. Students develop their ear training through simple listening exercises that grow into more complex musical understanding over time. I emphasise the importance of emotional expression in every piece we play, helping students connect deeply with the music. For those drawn to perform on stage or in places of worship, I provide the tools and confidence needed to shine. We work on performance readiness, stage presence, and playing with purpose and heart. I help students interpret music in a way that moves an audience, not just plays notes correctly. Together, we explore dynamics, phrasing, and storytelling through sound. Lessons are paced according to each learner’s goals and comfort. I use clear steps, visual aids, and real-life musical examples. Encouragement and patient support are key parts of my method. Every student is guided to discover their own musical voice while building strong skills.
