About Alexander

Hey, I am Alex, I'm an experienced instructor who has experience as a certified CanSAIL instructor teaching advanced levels of sailing. I am currently studying Marine Engineering at the Marine Institute of Research and Training in Owen Sound. As a student there we study and engineer complex control systems and study chemistry, physics, mechanics and more. I am also the Team Captain of a team, where we are currently designing and building a sustainable hydro-foiling sailboat using CAD, FEA, FEM and other design analysis software.

In high school, I was part of the most awarded VEX robotics team in the world having competed at multiple VEX World Championships as both a builder, drive coach and strategist. This was an opportunity that gained me valuable skills such as effective communication, quick problem-solving skills and strong leadership.

I am an easy-going and effective tutor and not only understand the content taught but can accommodate your learning styles. I've applied concepts in chemistry, physics and math in both school, robotics and sailing which provides students with a clearer understanding of how the theoretical concepts they are learning translate into real-world applications and scenarios.

About the lesson

Personalized Learning: I believe in tailoring my teaching methodology to the individual needs and learning styles of my students. This involves assessing their current understanding of the subject, identifying areas of improvement, and adapting my approach accordingly.

Hands-on Learning: Given my experience in competitive robotics, I emphasize hands-on learning experiences whenever possible. This could involve conducting experiments, solving real-world problems, or engaging in interactive activities that reinforce theoretical concepts.

Visual Aids and Technology: I leverage visual aids, simulations, and educational technology to enhance comprehension and make abstract concepts more tangible. This could include using multimedia presentations, interactive simulations, or online resources to supplement traditional teaching methods. Some of this includes CAD models, desmos, simulations and more.

If in the Owen Sound area and willing to pay an additional fee, I also have interactive physical 3D printed models that I can tailor to each lesson.
