About Atessa
Welcome! I’m Atessa — a passionate and patient piano tutor who specializes in teaching young beginners. With a strong musical background and experience working with children, I create a supportive environment where students can build confidence, develop solid technique, and grow a lifelong love for music. I’ve completed Level 8 piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music and have experience teaching younger students, which has taught me how to adapt my lessons to different learning styles while keeping them fun, clear, and engaging.

My approach to teaching piano focuses on building a strong foundation through patience, encouragement, and personalized guidance. I begin with the Alfred Basic Piano Library series, which introduces reading, rhythm, and proper technique in a gradual and engaging way. I aim to make lessons fun and supportive so students build confidence while developing important musical skills. As students progress, I introduce more advanced repertoire and technique exercises tailored to their pace and interest. Each lesson usually begins with a short warm-up or review of scales or finger exercises. We then go over assigned pieces, focusing on technique, rhythm, and expression. I offer guidance on posture, hand positioning, and musical interpretation, while encouraging questions and active participation. Toward the end, we often sight-read something new or play a fun game or activity to reinforce theory concepts. I also assign goals for at-home practice to keep students progressing in between lessons. What makes my teaching unique is the supportive environment I create. I understand that each child learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to match their needs and pace. As someone who has gone through piano exams and formal music study myself, I’m able to relate to my students’ challenges while offering encouragement and clarity. My lessons are structured but never stressful — the focus is always on growth, enjoyment, and musical confidence. My lessons are designed for younger beginners, typically in elementary school. No prior piano experience is required — I specialize in working with children who are just starting their musical journey. I help them learn to read music, build strong technique, and develop a love for playing. When ready, students move from the Alfred series into more complex classical or contemporary repertoire based on their individual interests and goals.
