About Anirudh
I'm an ex-engineer who has taught more than 110 students in the last 10+ years, specializing in guitar, voice, rhythm and composition. Thanks to my wonderful parents, I started singing at a very young age and was training in Indian classical music before I started playing guitar, bass and drums with a number of bands. While it was exciting to be pursuing music full-time, especially as a multi-instrumentalist, I felt that my original connection to music was fading away. That prompted me to dedicate a large portion of time to one of my first instruments - my voice. With that goal in mind, I began training in the Dhrupad style of Indian classical music, which focuses on extremely subtle nuances of pitch in the context of raag and taal. Along the way, I also developed my skill with the rudra veena and mridangam. I found that the better I was at a few simple fundamentals, the more connected I was with music. My ability to express myself grew in ways I couldn't ever imagine. While I have a lot more to learn, I've developed many skills, which I share with anyone who is interested in being a better musician, no matter what their level. If you'd like to give it a try, all you have to do is ask :) Wherever you may find yourself, I hope your skill continues to grow. May you find a teacher who guides you in the right direction while letting you be free to go your own way. My musical experience includes: + time - polyrhythm, konakkol (South Indian voiced percussion), Indian taal, poetic meter, drums; + frequency - Dhrupad (Indian classical), Western counterpoint, audio recording, editing, mixing, guitar, voice, rudra veena, cello; + expression - poetry, composition, improvisation, songwriting, auditory perception

Music, like language, is mainly about patterns. Just like authors and speakers use language creatively, composers discover and creatively use musical patterns to make the songs you love. How do musical patterns work? How can we understand musical patterns and their effects? How do we make music in ways that satisfy us? These are some of the questions I have been trying to answer for the last 10 years, and although I’m still learning something new each day, I have some pretty solid answers so far. With those answers, I’m now in a position to help you do 3 things well: 1. Understand music 2. Perform music (on your choice of instrument) 3. Compose music How do I do this? 1. Understanding your goals and giving you a roadmap 2. Project-based learning instead of syllabus-based learning 3. Providing context by connecting concepts with real musical examples 4. Developing your critical listening and expression skills 5. Prioritizing practical skills over theory 6. Review with class notes 7. Regular interaction and feedback outside class hours In addition, you have the option to attend group classes and workshops to supplement your one-on-one sessions. All that you need to begin is your curiosity. I look forward to hearing from you :)

Perfect! Anirudh is the best teacher ever and I am lucky to have found him. I was a complete beginner when I found him and right away from the very first call, I was excited to start my musical journey with him. Leave aside the fact that he is extremely skilled at wide variety of different instruments and has a lot of knowledge of music - what really sets him apart is that he understands and teaches the 'spirit' of music. And he knows how to teach, how to make you comfortable and how to build your confidence. His classes are insanely personalized, so as a student it feels like you are on your own journey. To me, Anirudh is more than a teacher - he is a partner in my musical and spiritual journey!
Perfect! I reached out to Anirudh with one goal - to learn music as a language for self expression. That was 3 months ago. Today, after regular classes with him, I can pick up at least 3 instruments at home (Ukulele, Guitar and harmonium) and play them decent enough. I can recognise notes, scales and rhythm to any song, thanks to his methods of teaching - they are easy to remember lessons and each class is a bliss. I am super excited to continue learning music from Anirudh and compose at least one song on my own. He is one of the most grounded, logical and approachable music teacher I have ever known in my life.
Thank you for connecting me to real music, Anirudh - super grateful to have found you here!- Anirudh's response :
Perfect! I really enjoy Anirudh’s classes. He makes it quite easy to learn and teaches basics really well. I would recommend everyone to atleast try a few classes with Anirudh.
- Anirudh's response :
Perfect! I have just completed 2 months with Aniruth and I have to say it has been extremely productive. His knowledge of music is commendable and his teaching approach allows the learner to become an independent learner as opposed to a rote learner / dependent one.
I have tried to learn music in the past from a couple of instructors. But nothing worked out to my satisfaction. With just two months under Aniruth's guidance, I was able to learn much more than I have in the past ten years. His approach is grounded in the basics and he very patiently helps you to build that strong foundation. He teaches you to understand your instrument which is key to becoming an independent player. Kudos to you and your passion towards music !- Anirudh's response :
Perfect! I liked that the teaching style is structured and fun with play sessions. He took time to understand my current knowledge of music and long-term goals and then developed a plan that bridges the gap and suits my goals. I am very happy with the results and look forward to the journey ahead

Anirudh is one of the teachers that always focuses on getting the basics right. I had been learning Guitar for 3 years before I started learning with him , however - was not able to progress with the pace I anticipated. He was very flexible to design a custom program driven by me to reach my goals and in the last 8 months that I have been learning - I can feel the progress myself.
Since he comes with knowledge and experience in multiple instruments and vocals , connecting with music becomes much seamless. He goes to the extent of analyzing each note and how to improvize music with a deep understanding of music theory. Anirudh’s extensive background in both Indian classical and western music gives immense value for students learning from him.
I like to thank him sincerley for his contribution to my learning and wish him the very best in his musical life !!.Anirudh is a very good teacher. He will teach you the basics initially and it might feel slow, but trust me, it all ties up in the end. From playing chords, to getting your finger positions right, to be able to hear and recognize notes, he will teach you guitar the way he wished someone would have taught him. His emphasis on getting the basics right to spontaneously explaining the history of guitar, music, or the different systems that are employed by people to compose music are highly informative.
Highly recommended. Just be patient and trust his process. You’ll be a much better guitar player few months down the line.Anirudh is a very talented, dedicated and passionate guitar teacher. His teaching methods are unique and effective, in the sense that it is more aligned towards the musical goals of the student. Learning guitar from him has been a satisfying journey for me. I am able to play tunes and songs which I never thought I could! His classes will strengthen your knowledge in music theory such that you could play any musical instrument. He also provides notes after every class which is very useful to track you progress and also serves as a reference material.
I would definitely recommend Anirudh's classes for anyone interested in music.
I have been learning how to play bass guitar from Anirudh sir for the past three months.
Anirudh sir is more than just a teacher - he is a mentor who educates about music as a whole - and not just one or two aspects about it. Sir has helped me compose simple basslines for songs of my liking and has also elucidated the methods for doing so.
Going beyond a strict curriculum, sir has also introduced me to excellent bands like Tool and Flying Colours which has helped in broadening my musical tastes.
Sir will also go above and beyond the class duration to ensure that the specific ideas and concepts discussed are well understood and practiced.
Anirudh sir is also approachable outside class hours and has always responded to any queries I had or comments I needed over a specific recording.
Furthermore, sir’s excellent weekly live streams on ‘Rhythm For All’ are not only interesting - but they also are extremely informative with each one illuminating a specific concept clearly and concisely.
I can confidently say that with Anirudh sir’s guidance I am becoming a better all-around musician - not just a bass guitarist.
No matter what we learn - Vocals, Guitars or Rhythm, there’s a bunch of musical verticals being built in us. Craft skill, Ear training, Expression - Music is the most beautiful language after all.
What I love most about Anirudh is whether you’re a beginner or you already composed your first couple of songs - He will take care of all the verticals for you. He will do the planning, the hardwork behind the scenes so that you can just have fun expressing yourself and get better everyday. I always look forward to my next class with him, there’s a sense of positivity and thrill about it.
Anirudh is a serious music talent himself, one to really look out for. But he’s an even more passionate, committed and innovative teacher. No matter what level you’re on, hit him up if you want to learn music. One of the most patient and productive teacher i've come across. He listens and observes the vocal obstructions very keenly.
And gives the necessary guidance without making it really complicated for you.You are the best.
