About Avajo

Flute lessons are a gift you give yourself—and I’m here to make sure it feels like one every time. I focus on adult learners, especially those over 50 who are ready to try something new or return to something they once loved. My studio is a place of encouragement, creativity, and calm. I use a hybrid approach that blends classical training with contemporary strategies tailored to individual needs. Whether you prefer structured exercises or more intuitive learning, we can shape your lessons accordingly. I provide play-along tracks at various speeds, music arranged specifically for adult beginners, and guided practice routines that are simple to follow and easy to enjoy. My goal is for you to leave every lesson feeling uplifted and motivated—not drained or overwhelmed. We’ll laugh, we’ll experiment, and we’ll find music that truly speaks to you. Whether you dream of playing by ear, reading music fluently, or just enjoying a peaceful moment with your flute each day, I’ll guide you there with care.

About the lesson

My teaching approach revolves around one principle: flute learning should be meaningful, accessible, and deeply enjoyable for every student—especially for adults who might not have grown up with musical training. I specialize in working with students over 50, helping them achieve whatever musical goals they bring—be it playing for family, joining a band, or enjoying solo practice as a meditative activity. Each lesson is structured to your personal pace and comfort level. I blend classical foundations with modern flexibility, using tools like practice videos, slow-motion playbacks, and mobile metronomes to help make each step clear and digestible. I also guide students through listening-based learning, so they begin to play by ear, respond to rhythm naturally, and gain confidence without always needing sheet music. My aim isn’t to mold you into a professional flutist, but to open up a space where music becomes a joyful part of your life again—or for the first time.
