About the lesson
I like to teach following these 4 steps:
1) Cover material. "Material" refers to applicable worksheets/notes as well as the topic itself. The student will be highly encouraged to take notes on what they think are key points. Notes are CRUCIAL. They serve to remind and reinforce synapse connections in the brain for short-term and long-term memory. Repetition, repetition, repetition!
2) Homework (means repetition of assigned practice)
3) Feedback (play it back to me)
4) Repeat Step 1. "Material" can refer to the current material if feedback is "bad", and next material if current material is "sufficient."
I also believe in keeping lessons fun and enjoyable. Lessons should have some flavor to them. Like in cooking.
I like to schedule on a one-to-one basis via email or a social media account for flexible hours for both student and teacher.
- Music reading
- Musical keyboard
I have been training in music since I was 6, and have also been composing since then for 15+ years.
I am also a graduate of Trinity Western University with a BA in music, and have held a T.A. position for an Intro to Digital Recording course offered there. I have done theory, harmony, music composition, and piano lessons at this prestigious university. I have also completed up to RCM grade 10 (theory, harmony, and performance).
I have 3 pieces for gaming/theme music (showcasing some unconventional, as well as some conventional harmonies), and also my own (original) 7-minute film score interpretation for a CGI animated short film created by Taiko Studios (which I am not affiliated with) @ (concealed information) I also have a 4-minute song I've completed with a singer.
But most importantly, I'm here to help.
Perfect! very good teacher ! My son like his lesson !

Perfect! Had my first lesson today, really professional and patient, thanks Lukas!
- Lukas's response : Student is very patient and willing to learn, and is a huge pleasure to teach. Thank you so much!
Perfect! Lukas is my son favorite teacher mainly due to his calm and friendly nature. Thank you Lukas for helping my child to explore new music and new ways of playing piano.
- Lukas's response : Very nice and friendly to work with, and very hospitable. Their children are a joy to teach and interact with.
Perfect! Lukas is great at assessing your skill level and assigning 'homework' that is not too difficult, yet still pushes your boundaries. When you demonstrate what you have learned, he pays close attention to help catch and correct repeated mistakes. Within 3 lessons I am already seeing more progress than months of self-teaching so I definitely recommend lessons!
- Lukas's response : Extremely quick to learn and accept feedback. A pleasure to teach.
Perfect! Lukas is very patient, systematic, knowledgeable and quite brilliant in his approach. It's been a few classes and our kids love working with him and look forward to his classes.
There's good track of notes exchanged and overall progress made, which makes it easy for parents to absorb and understand.
There's revision/reiteration of notes at the end of every session.
Every session is a good track ahead also touching on areas which need improvement.
We look forward to many more lessons with you..Lukas
We'd recommend Lukas anytime for parents looking for some quality investment for their children.
- Lukas's response : They are very organized and dedicated with their work. They are also very punctual and talented, which makes them quite easy to work with! It's great to teach and learn from them.
Perfect! Lukas has been a wonderful piano teacher to our 12 year old son. He is extremely polite, punctual, professional, knowledgeable and an over all pleasure. At the end of each lesson our son is able to demonstrate new material he has been taught and he has come leaps and bounds since his first lesson. It’s only fitting that our son provide his input as well, he said the following about Lukas “He is a great teacher and he is super encouraging. He is always willing to give advice and when I am not understanding he remains patient and is always willing to help me understand” ...Thank you Lukas! Looking forward to many more lessons!!
- Lukas's response : Teaching Ross' son has been a pleasurable experience. He loves to learn and is constantly practicing music in his spare time for self-improvement. Ross has a comfortable space to teach in, and is well organized and mannerly. It is wonderful to get to know him!
Excellent! First of all he is very punctual and has a very positive attitude. Whenever he comes for the lesson, he never looks tired or negative, always smiling which is an awesome characterization to have. About the lessons, he is very thorough when he teaches piano to my son, he is very patient as my son has a lot of questions and does gets distracted at times and Lukas is able to handle him well. He is always well organized and prepared for the lessons. We are happy to be taking lessons from Lukas. Yes, We highly recommend him for anyone looking for piano lessons

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I believe I was naturally born with an ear for music. Usually, you know you were born with a gift, talent, or hobby because you know deep inside that you love it. It's a part of who you are. I have been playing piano and composing since I was 6, and that's because of my wonderful parents. They realized I had a passion for music early on, and I've carried this passion with me for 15+ years composing music and teaching piano. And I love what I'm doing.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
For one thing, I love the sound of music. No, not the film (well actually, I really do like the film), but what I mean is the frequencies and that hit my Cochlea (which transforms sound waves into meaningful signals called 'music.' Beats, bass, melody, rhythm, harmony. Just the thought of creating another piece however I want is true freedom and creativity to me.
The other reason I am passionate about my subject is people. Sure, I love receiving praise for the work I do and my performances (and receiving criticism is part of the process too). But when I see one of my students conquer a milestone, I know I'm doing the right thing.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
Tutoring is about both student and teacher. You can't have tutoring work without the other person - you need both sides of the equation. I try the best I can to make this a reality when teaching students by following an adaptive formula I have created to make productive use of time and energy. What I like about tutoring is how much you can learn from how your teach your students. For example, I'm always thinking about how I can improve my formula to maximize efficiency and progress. After all, there's no perfect plan. But I believe it is important to keep the student in mind, and guide them in the right path. Because again, lessons are about student and teacher, not just one side of the equation. And that's why I try to keep lessons flavorful and enjoyable. Like in cooking.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
In terms of role models, I think I would have to say my parents. They are hard working, diligent in what they do, and wise. They are the reason I started my music career in the first place.
Jef Gibbons, my music composition teacher inspired my to hone my music production/composition skills and improve from what I already know. He has been a pleasure to work with for sound design, mixing and mastering.
Suzanne Klukas, my Trinity Western University piano teacher has been a huge inspiration to me because of her highly advanced knowledge of everything music, including posture, technique, and musical styles and eras. She has made me appreciate discipline and the art of practice.
What are your keys to success?
Really, when it comes down to it, it's about how much time you spend honing your craft. I don't think there's a "get good quick" scheme. But at the same time, work smarter more than you work harder. Find ways to educate yourself. There are tons of resources online which can increase your speed in learning, and I believe I am one of those sources available for your needs. If I had to use three words to summarize what I just said, they would be: repetition, dedication, and resourcefulness. Finally, I find an attitude of humility and acceptance really helps you achieve these things.
