I'm a professional drummer with 25+ years of experience playing drum kit, hand percussion, and electronic programming. In my recording studio, I compose and record original music spanning a wide range of genres, which I use to supplement my students’ lessons. I earned my Associates of Music Degree in California and my Bachelor of Music degree in Australia. I have toured extensively with bands overseas and have taught privately in schools and music shops for 10+ years.

I work with my students on a personable level based on how they learn best and what they’re interested in learning. I love to mix different teaching styles to suit the student's needs. My ultimate goal with teaching music is to help my students achieve their musical goals in a fun, natural, and relaxed way that gives them joy, confidence, and direction in their lives.

From just wanting to learn your favorite song to mastering technique, performance, recording, theory, songwriting & how to be a successful musician in the industry, I can help!

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I developed a passion for music early in life. It wasn't a single moment; rather, it was like a steady rhythm building in the background, gradually drawing me in. I was particularly captivated by rhythm and energy, which naturally led me to the drums. There's something primal and grounding about playing them-it feels like a connection to something deeper than oneself. For me, playing the drums has always been a way to tap into the pulse of life.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Absolutely. Tool, Sigur Rós, and The Weeknd are three artists I can listen to on repeat without ever getting tired of them. Tool delves into the complex and layered dimensions of consciousness; Sigur Rós takes me to emotional landscapes that transcend language; and The Weeknd offers a cool, modern elegance that is both moody and addictive. Each of these artists possesses a unique timelessness that keeps their music feeling fresh, no matter how often I listen to it.
  • Explain the most difficult or riveting lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

One of the most captivating lessons I teach is improvisation-not only as a musical skill but also as a pathway to self-trust and presence. Creating sound spontaneously, without a script, can feel vulnerable, yet it is immensely liberating. The power of improvisation lies in its connection to the spiritual essence of our lives. It teaches us to listen, respond, and surrender control-qualities that resonate far beyond music. Witnessing a student embrace that kind of freedom is always a profound experience.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I would choose the violin. It requires complete awareness of the body-there are no frets to indicate pitch, the bowing technique is highly nuanced, and the learning curve is quite challenging. The margin for error is minimal, but when someone masters the instrument, the emotional depth and expressiveness achieved are unmatched. It truly is a journey of discipline and soul.
  • What are your keys to success?

Presence, curiosity, and consistency are key. I believe that success isn't about achieving perfection-it's about being present, staying curious, and keeping an open mind throughout the process. I also think that building genuine connections through music, rather than solely focusing on technical skills, is what fosters meaningful and lasting success for both teachers and students.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I would invite Maynard James Keenan, Jónsi from Sigur Rós, and Prince to a conversation. I choose Maynard for his sharp mind and spiritual perspective, which would lead to a layered and intense discussion. I would invite Jónsi for his quiet mysticism and to explore how he creates such atmospheric soundscapes. As for Prince, well, he's simply Prince. I would love to hear him speak about artistry, presence, and the mystery of performance.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

In a group improvisation class, we were encouraged to embrace the chaos, responding to energy and silence without structure. At first, it felt overwhelming, but I soon realized that the music was already within us; we just needed to listen deeply to uncover it. This enlightening experience transformed my perspective, revealing that music isn't merely something we create-it's something we encounter. This profound insight shapes my teaching to this day.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I teach with presence, intuition, and a genuine desire to understand each student's unique perspective and aspirations. My approach blends technique with awareness-I incorporate elements of meditation and sound healing to help students connect emotionally and energetically with their music. I aim to make every lesson a space of both skill-building and self-discovery.
