About Wafeeqa
First thing about me, when it comes to teaching, I genuinely enjoy explaining a concept to the students and watching them all have a different take at how they perceive it. I have had a keen fondness towards teaching my whole life. I would happily explain a concept over and over till the student understands it, as long as they are giving their full attention too. I feel like if I enjoy teaching, the student will feel enthusiastic to learn that topic too!!

I have always been fond of teaching, whether it was my class or my younger siblings. I love laying out my strategies and lesson plans the day before and explaining a concept to my students. My fellow classmates have often remarked that I explain quite well and that it sticks with them. I love using diagrams, analogies and most of all - forming connections between bigger concepts. These truly feel like those epiphanies during a movie to me where "it all makes sense now". For now, I only wish to take IGCSE students in subjects: biology, chemistry and physics. I can mainly teach weekends, however, timings can be negotiated with the students per both parties' convenience. My typical lesson plan would be:
If starting fresh
- reading through the syllabus and forming a chart with the student
- starting with the basics; dividing what to memorise and what is conceptual
- Using a board or a paper to jot down the lesson or provide visually pleasing notes
If only to tie all loose ends
- going over the chapter the student struggles in
- asking the student where they face problem and diving into the basics of it
- providing tips and advices wherever possible
*I think what sets me apart as a tutor is I love hands on learning. Using funny analogies and not always going by the book verbatim. I like going by the content like it's a story. Especially in biology, the contents feel like a story where everything is fascinatingly linked. I want to share this experience with my students!
