About Elliott

I am a professionnal guitarist and teach guitar, music theory and harmony. I studied at the American School Of Modern Music.

I have been giving private lessons for 10 years and for 2 years in music school, in establishments recognized for their innovative pedagogy (Music Garden, Freedom Music School).

I am also a teacher of Computer Aided Music (MAO in French) and I designed the program "MAO for dummies" which is aimed at musicians of all levels who wish to familiarize themselves with musical creation by computer without material or prior skills.

I am also a stage and studio musician and I have leaded for several years the jazz-rock group "Icebergs" (European tours, two studio albums, composition awards, ...) where I also officiated as a composer and lyricist.

About the lesson

My methodology is based on games because music, instrumental practice must above all be a pleasure for without pleasure there can be no progress.

I have therefore developed over time a whole arsenal of musical and guitar mini-games allowing to approach sometimes complex techniques and concepts in a fun way.

This playful approach is also very structured with exercises to be done between lessons and a work program adapted to the student's schedule.

For children / adolescents (and adults who want to) I usually approach reading notes very quickly, with a well-established program that I designed from scratch, because I find it unfortunate that the majority of guitarists are incapable to read music.

By learning with these progressive exercises and mini-pieces that the students know I always have the same return at the end of the first year of music theory "in fact music theory is funny!".

For the purely guitaristic side my teaching is based on the learning of songs, chosen by me or by the student alternately, to make the link with the musical tastes of the student and offer him a cultural opening towards other styles.
All the technical and theoretical notions (scales, arpeggios, CAGED, hammer / pull off, bend, sweep, ...) are approached through a piece.
