About Cindy

I am an experienced tutor in English Literature, Language and Mathematics and have been for the past 4 years. My zeal to tutor derives from my hunger for learning, as I have achieved A**s and an A in these subjects in my GCSEs, and I would love to teach my students to achieve similar grades in any and all of their examinations. Alongside private tutoring, where I do 1-to-1 and 1-to-2 sessions at a residence, I have tutored up 9 students at a time at tuition centres, so have a lot of versatility when it comes to the volume of students I take on. I have tutored children from the age of 4 up to the age of 17. Through my support, I have witnessed my students achieve exceptional results, through proven improvements in school and passing 11+ results. GCSE results are still awaiting results in the summer but I am confident in their ability and all they have learned under my teaching.

About the lesson

I'm an experienced tutor who provides lessons for primary school students (including those entering SATs and 11+ examinations) and secondary school students (including those entering GCSE exams) -- essentially, all Key Stages up to and including Key Stage 4.

The way in which I tutor depends on the services required of me:

For 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝟏-𝐭𝐨-𝟏 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, I often base my tutoring around gaps in schoolwork, so follow the curriculum and enable the student to understand their classwork in depth. Once any issues are covered, I work meticulously to ensure that I can take the student to the next level so that they may excel and learn beyond the scope of their average age knowledge.

For 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, I do the above, while also ensuring that any tasks given are suitable for all the different variety of children, no matter how different. If necessary, work is tiered in difficulty, so that those who require extra assistance do not need to begin with the more difficult tasks first but rather build up their skill and understanding.

For 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, although gaps in classwork are important if raised as an issue, the most important tasks to be carried out are the learning and practice of both exam questions for any of the given subjects and exam skills, such as how read the questions probably, hit every criteria in the mark scheme and get the highest marks possible.

For all the above types of tutoring, homework is always set based on what was learned in the session. Students are expected to raise concerns about any lack of understanding and should be comfortabe to do so. I will ensure that the student has fully learned and understood any given topic before moving onto something else that may be more difficult.
