About Evanthe
I used to struggle greatly with academics. I couldn't concentrate, couldn't get it and as a result wouldn't do very well in homework and exams. Now, I believe in the power of proper teaching and engagement, having learnt techniques to make history and other school subjects engaging and rewarding. I am delighted to say that I have recently finished my degree in History at the University of Bristol with a first and have greatly enjoyed my studies. I want to pass on this knowledge!

I use specific memory techniques (which is very important at GCSE-level) to help memorise figures and dates, such as the mind-palace method and other mnemonics. Active-recall and other science-backed methods are also crucial in doing well in these kinds of exams. Essay writing (and my top tips for excelling in them) will also be a significant part of our lessons. I went from failing my year 7 history exam to getting a 9, A* and first in my history qualifications so I know the power of these techniques and how far proper teaching can take you! These lessons are for year 7 all the way up to year 11 and will be adapted around your syllabus.
