  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have always loved Mathematics and have been passionate about the discipline my entire life. In the small farmhouse that I was raised in, my Dad started teaching me Mathematics before the age of 4. Mathematics is real and I love to help others experience its beauty.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Mathematics is the universal language we all speak - wherever you are in the world, the units of measure change, but the Mathematics remains the same. I love tackling both theoretical and real-world problems using all of the techniques I acquired during my education. My favourite subject that applies Mathematics to solve real-world problems is Economics.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Mathematics is the universal language we all speak - wherever you are in the world, the units of measure change, but the Mathematics remains the same. • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good Tutor needs to be able to explain subject matter at both the conceptual and theoretical levels. Both patience and persistence with students is key.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I love helping students with Probability and Statistics; but I find a true appreciation of the subjects comes at the graduate level with a lot of advanced Mathematical proofs. When teaching this subject at the undergraduate level, it is hard to hold back and only share surface level insights as to why all of the Mathematical tools being used really work.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my elementary school days, I had a Math teacher who loved to challenge us with puzzles and unconventional problems. One day, he brought a large and intricate-looking machine into the classroom. It was an old, mechanical calculator called a Curta, known for its precision
and complexity. He passed it around, letting us examine its gears and dials.

Then, he gave us a challenge: "Using this Curta, I want you to calculate the square root of 2025. No calculators or phones allowed."

Most of the students in the class were puzzled and had never used such a calculator before. I played with the Curta and tried to figure out how it worked. After a few attempts and some guidance from my teacher, I finally managed to understand the mechanism and performed the
calculation. It felt like solving a mechanical puzzle.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Teaching is my passion. Teaching permeates all aspects of both my personal and professional life. When you teach someone else how to do something, you truly learn about yourself and grow more than the individual receiving your knowledge.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

'm a true Jack of All Trades type SuperProf. I can help you succeed in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Programming, Finance etc. I love learning and want to help my students reach their FULL potential!
