About Sebastian

Hey there! I’m from Colombia, but I spent 5 amazing years in New York, where I picked up English. Now, I’m here to help anyone who wants to dive into Spanish! I’m a super easygoing person, always happy to lend a hand, and I love making learning fun. Oh, and I’m 25, so let’s make this journey awesome together!

About the lesson

As a Spanish tutor, my approach is centered around creating a fun and interactive environment where learning feels more like an adventure than a task! Here’s how I go about it:

1. Teaching Method and Techniques:

I use a dynamic, conversational approach that keeps the lessons engaging and enjoyable. My methods are a mix of:
• Interactive conversations: We dive right into real-life scenarios where you’re using Spanish in everyday situations. This could be ordering food, making small talk, or planning a trip—all while practicing your grammar and vocabulary.
• Games and challenges: Learning Spanish doesn’t have to be dry! I integrate games, puzzles, and friendly challenges that make learning more like a game. Think of quizzes, vocabulary bingo, or “Spanish word of the day” competitions.
• Storytelling: I love using stories to make grammar and vocabulary stick. Whether it’s through short stories, funny anecdotes, or cultural tales from Spanish-speaking countries, I’ll help you see how the language comes alive in real contexts.
• Cultural immersion: Spanish is not just about words—it’s about culture too. I love weaving in bits of Spanish music, movies, art, and even recipes to make the language feel real and relevant.
• Customization: Each learner is different! I adapt lessons based on your interests, whether you love soccer, cooking, or history. This way, every session feels fresh and relevant to you.

⸻

2. A Typical Lesson Plan:

Each lesson is designed to feel engaging and structured while leaving room for flexibility. Here’s a typical flow:
1. Warm-up (5-10 minutes): We’ll start with a casual conversation in Spanish, maybe focusing on something you’ve learned recently or just chatting about your day. It helps loosen up and get in the “Spanish mode.”
2. Vocabulary & Grammar (15-20 minutes): I’ll introduce a new set of vocabulary or a specific grammar concept in a fun, interactive way. This could include flashcards, matching games, or short dialogues.
3. Practice Activities (15-20 minutes): We’ll dive into activities that reinforce what you’ve learned. This could be a mini-dialogue practice, role-playing, or a quick game that uses new words or grammar points.
4. Cultural Element (5-10 minutes): Whether it’s a short video, a song, or a cultural tidbit, this keeps lessons interesting and connects language learning with real-world context.
5. Wrap-up & Homework (5 minutes): We’ll finish with a brief recap of what’s been covered. I’ll give you fun homework or a challenge to practice until our next lesson—something light, but still effective!

⸻

3. What Sets Me Apart:
• Personalization: I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I get to know your learning style, interests, and goals, so lessons are tailored to your pace and needs. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, I’ll help you reach your goals with a fun, custom plan.
• Energy & Passion: Learning Spanish is a journey, and I make sure it’s exciting! I bring high energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to every lesson. You’ll feel encouraged, motivated, and excited to come back for more.
• Language and Culture Fusion: I don’t just teach the language—I bring the culture, the rhythms, the music, and the vibrancy of Spanish-speaking countries right into the lesson. You’ll not only learn how to speak Spanish, but also understand the soul of the language.

⸻

4. Who the Lessons Are For:
• Beginners to Advanced Learners: Whether you’re just starting with Spanish or you’re looking to refine your advanced skills, I’ve got lessons tailored to every level.
• Adults and Teens: Whether you’re learning for travel, work, or just out of interest, my lessons cater to adults and teens looking to improve their Spanish in a practical, fun way.
• People Who Want to Connect: If you’re looking to connect with Spanish-speaking friends, family, or communities, or if you want to explore Spanish-speaking countries, my lessons will give you the language skills and cultural knowledge to do that confidently.
