My goal is to motivate students to achieve their best and succeed in their exams. Lessons are tailored to the student and adhere to the relevant exam board syllabus at GCSE (Edexcel/AQA) and A-level (AQA/Edexcel). The first lesson is an ice-breaker, and is used to identify the student's specific needs. Lessons are normally an hour long, and occur at least once a week via video call (subject to the student's requirements). The focus is on supporting the student's work, their knowledge acquisition, their recall ability, their essay-writing & source-question skills and finally, exam practice and technique. To familiarise students with exam questions, a past paper and practice paper approach is used. I encourage A-level students to actively read beyond 'the coursebook' to improve their subject knowledge, bolster their confidence and increase their chance of success. Additional essay and source-work skills sessions can be organised if needed.

Having taught with Mark in a UK school for several years, I can most certainly recommend him as a fantastic tutor. He is extremely hardworking and passionate about his subject, taking real joy in sharing his knowledge with others. He has a great sense of humour, is very approachable and will always go the extra mile to help his students.
Mark is an educated and experienced teacher with an impressive knowledge base. He is able to explain complex concepts in simple, understandable terms. He is patient, tactful, and supportive. He encourages students not to be shy about expressing their opinions and helps them to formulate and argue their points correctly. He gives 100 percent to every lesson and is sincerely committed to helping his students. I really like the fact that he keeps up with current trends in the teaching process and uses best practices, adapting to the needs of each student. His lessons are interactive and interesting, and the theory is always supported by practical real-life examples, which helps to better understand the material. I recommend Mark as an excellent teacher and a professional whose knowledge and skills are truly enviable.
I've been studying with Mark for over a year now. It is difficult for me to learn new material, so it was important for me to find a teacher who knows how to explain. Mark is always attentive to his students - he listens to their opinions, uses different teaching methods, supports and encourages them. Studying with Mark is always an interesting and motivating process. And I am very grateful to him.
Mother of an A-Level History Student, 2023-24.
Mark was professional, flexible and reliable. My son needed exam preparation at short notice and said he found their sessions very helpful. Mark gave an insightful progress update midway through the sessions.
From a parents perspective I would recommend Mark as a History tutor.I have known Mark for over 20 years in both a professional and personal capacity. Being in education myself, I regard him as a highly competent and effective communicator who has a genuine passion for History and a desire to share this with others. His infectious enthusiasm and sense of humour puts people at ease immediately and as a skilled practitioner, is able to tailor make lessons to suit different needs. I cannot recommend Mark more highly.
