About Mackenzie

I am a Math tutor with over 5 years of experience and hold an MMath degree. What excites me most about teaching is not just solving equations, but uncovering the stories hidden behind them. I have always been fascinated by the history of mathematics and the evolution of mathematical thought. In my lessons, I often explore how ancient civilizations like the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Indians shaped the foundations of the subject we study today. I enjoy showing students how concepts such as algebra, geometry, and calculus developed over centuries. Famous theorems are not just formulas on paper to me—they are milestones in human curiosity and discovery. I believe that learning mathematics becomes more meaningful when we understand the journey it took to reach us. For example, tracing the origins of the Pythagorean theorem or the invention of zero helps students connect with the subject on a deeper level. I guide learners to see mathematics not only as a set of rules, but also as a cultural and intellectual legacy. My approach is to make students appreciate the creativity, struggle, and insight that went into every discovery. I want them to see mathematicians of the past as thinkers who pushed the boundaries of knowledge. With this perspective, solving problems feels less like memorization and more like joining an ongoing story. Mathematics is both timeless and alive, and I strive to pass on that sense of wonder. I warmly invite students to delve into the rich history that shaped our understanding of numbers and patterns.

My teaching approach in Mathematics is highly structured and systematic. I believe in building every concept step by step, ensuring that students gain a strong foundation before moving forward. Algebraic principles are introduced in a simple and clear way, which allows learners to tackle advanced ideas with confidence. From there, I guide students through calculus concepts, including differentiation and integration, showing how these tools connect theory with practical applications. Geometry is taught not just as shapes and figures, but as logical proofs that sharpen reasoning and critical thinking. I also include probability and statistics, helping students see how numbers and data shape real-world decisions. Every lesson I teach follows a clear progression path. This makes it easier for students to understand how one concept leads naturally to the next. I always encourage questions and discussions, as active participation leads to deeper learning. My goal is not just to prepare students for exams, but to make them future problem solvers and confident thinkers. With personalized guidance, I adapt methods to match each student’s learning style and speed. I emphasize practice and real-life examples so that understanding lasts long after lessons end. This structured approach ensures students excel not only in mathematics but also in analytical skills that support careers like actuarial science. Most importantly, I provide support that helps learners achieve both clarity and long-term success.
