About Emma
With more than 6 years in architectural tutoring and a BSc in Architecture, I’ve worked with students to turn their concepts into clear, compelling designs. I help high school and pre-university learners prepare for A-Level exams, portfolio submissions, and design interviews. My approach blends theory with practice, making sure you not only understand architectural principles but also apply them confidently. We dive into core topics such as spatial organization, proportion, and design theory, while also practicing essential drawing techniques. I use visual breakdowns, step-by-step demonstrations, and real-world examples to make challenging ideas click. You’ll gain experience with both freehand sketching and digital drafting, as well as model-making for three-dimensional thinking. I place strong emphasis on process—concept development, iteration, and refinement—because great designs are built through layers of thought. Our sessions often include portfolio critiques, design problem-solving exercises, and time management strategies for project deadlines. By the end, you won’t just have finished work—you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to think like an architect. Architecture is challenging, but it’s also deeply rewarding. I believe architecture is best learned by understanding the process behind great design. My approach blends theory, technical skills, and creative exploration to help students grow. We cover the fundamentals of spatial composition, proportion, and drawing techniques before applying them to real-world design challenges. Every project is an opportunity to explore both practical constraints and creative solutions.
I teach students how to develop ideas from concept sketches through to final presentation boards. Lessons include freehand drawing, CAD tools, and physical model construction to give a complete skill set. Case studies of architectural works are used to inspire and guide design thinking.
A key focus is on problem-solving—how to adapt ideas while keeping the integrity of the design. I also guide students in portfolio preparation, ensuring their work reflects both skill and individuality. My feedback is clear, constructive, and aimed at pushing each learner forward. Students gain confidence in presenting their designs and defending their ideas. Through consistent practice and reflection, they master the habits of a thoughtful, capable designer.
