About Arthur
In my ten years of piano tutoring, I have taught more than 150 students, each bringing their own unique dreams and talents to the keyboard. From high school beginners to college performers, my students inspire me daily with their dedication and creativity. My teaching method is built on clear, supportive communication and personalized lesson plans that focus on technique, music reading, and expressive playing. I believe that connecting music to a student’s personal interests enhances motivation and deepens their understanding. One of the most rewarding experiences in my teaching journey was guiding a nervous college student through their debut recital. With consistent practice and encouragement, they transformed anxiety into confidence, delivering a performance that was met with enthusiastic applause. That moment was a profound reminder of why I teach: to help students unlock their potential and discover the joy of music. Music is accessible to everyone, and my role is to make the piano an inviting space where students can grow, express themselves, and realize their artistic goals.

My piano teaching philosophy blends technical training, creative exploration, and lifelong learning. I approach each lesson with the belief that all students—regardless of age, background, or previous experience—have the potential to grow musically and personally through piano. Technical training is essential, and I make sure every student builds a solid foundation in posture, hand position, scales, and sight-reading.
These skills form the backbone of confident, expressive playing. However, I also believe that technique should serve creativity, not suppress it. That’s why I incorporate creative exercises such as improvisation, musical storytelling, and playing by ear. These activities help students develop a personal relationship with music and strengthen their listening and interpretive skills. I guide students through analyzing the music they play, helping them recognize patterns, understand form, and see how harmony and melody interact.
This analytical thinking enhances their musical intuition and boosts their ability to learn new pieces on their own. I also encourage exploration beyond the bench—we talk about music history, famous composers, and different genres to broaden their perspective and appreciation for the art form. I promote a growth mindset by emphasizing effort and curiosity over perfection, and I remind students regularly that progress is a journey. Whether a student practices daily or struggles with motivation, I meet them with empathy and adjust our lessons to reflect their needs in that moment.
I maintain communication with parents and caregivers, especially for younger students, to support consistent learning at home. My ultimate goal is to help each student become a confident, independent musician who enjoys playing and understands the language of music. I want them to see piano not as a task, but as a gift they carry with them for life.
